BOOK LAUNCHING OF “PATRONA JURADA”

On July 15, 2023, Claretian Communications Foundation, Inc. in partnership with The Archdiocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Guia, launched the book “PATRONA JURADA: Centuries of Devotion to the Nuestra Señora de Guia” by Michael P. Delos Reyes at The Archdiocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Guia (Ermita Church).

The author shared the story behind his latest opus – how a simple request from a Marian devotee for him to write a book on the Nuestra Señora de Guia led to a massive research that he conducted in libraries, archives and other online resources in the midst of the pandemic. He shared that he writes books on the Blessed Virgin Mary to deepen our devotion to Mary who, in turn, guides us towards Jesus Christ.

His books have been published by the Claretian Communications Foundation, Inc. (CCFI) – Prusisyon: Paghahanda at Pagdiriwang in 2006 (Best Book in Theology and Liturgy, 2007 Cardinal Sin Catholic Book Awards); Holy Week and Easter Processions: A Liturgico-Pastoral Guide, and Salve Regina: On Crowning Images of the Virgin Mary in 2015 (Liturgy Category Finalist, 2016 Cardinal Sin Catholic Book Awards); Morena Garciosa: The Devotion to the Virgin of Antipolo through the Centuries in 2016 (Best Book in Liturgy, 2017 Cardinal Sin Catholic Book Awards); and Inmaculada Peregrina: Kasaysayan at Debosyon in 2021. He authored the books Coronadas: Pontifically Crowned Marian Images in the Philippines 1907-2021 (RPD Publications), and Place Me with Your Son: The Jesuits and Filipino Marian Devotions (Jesuit Communications Foundation), both published in 2021. Patrona Jurada is his seventh book with CCFI.

The book launch ended with the veneration of the Nuestra Señora de Guia.
