Suffragan of Tuguegarao
Established: November 30, 1950 as Territorial Province of
Batanes and Babuyanes. in February 6, 2002, the Prelature
was reduced to comprise only the province of Batanes and
is now known as the Territorial Prelature of Batanes with
the Archbishop of Tuguegarao as Metropolitan. Babuyanes
is ceded to the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao. It comprises
the Province of Batanes. Principal Patronness: Immaculate Conception,
December 8.

Born: June 24, 1962 in Tuguegarao, Cagayan. Ordained Priest: April 10,
1987. Appointed Bishop-Prelate of Batanes: May 20, 2017. Consecrated
Bishop: July 29, 2017. Installed as the 5th Bishop-Prelate of Batanes: August
8, 2017.

Born: September 25, 1939 in Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija. Ordained Priest:
December 1, 1963. Appointed Titular Bishop of Giro. Auxiliary Bishop
of Cebu: December 12, 1987. Consecrated Bishop: March 29, 1987.
Appointed Bishop of Bacolod: May 20, 1989. Served the Diocese of
Bacolod: 1989-2000. Appointed Bishop-Prelate of Batanes: September
13, 2003. Installed as 4th Bishop-Prelate of Batanes: November 8, 2003.
Retired: May 20, 2017.

Bishop of Tuguegarao, was made the first Administrator of the Prelature from
February 3, 1951 to October 31, 1951.
Most Rev. Peregrin de la Fuente, OP
was the first Bishop-Prelate of the Prelature. He took canonical possession of the Prelature
on November 1, 1951 to the day of his death on May 14, 1966.
Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mario Baltazar, OP
was elected as second Prelate of the Prelature of Batanes-Babuyanes on November 11, 1966
and was installed on January 7, 1967. He retired on July 19, 1995.
Most Rev. Diosdado Talamayan, DD
Archbishop of Tuguegarao, was appointed Administrator of the Prelature from August 1995
to June 1996.
Most Rev. Jose P. Salazar, OP
was appointed third Bishop-Prelate of the Prelature of Batanes-Babuyanes on March, 1996.
He was consecrated Bishop in Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City on June 7, 1996 and was
installed on June 25, 1996.
Most Rev. Ernesto Salgado, DD
Bishop of Laoag, was appointed Administrator of the Prelature (now as territorial Prelature
of Batanes) from February, 2003 to September 13, 2003.
