Jesus saw his disciples straining at the oars, for the wind was against them; and before daybreak he came to them,
walking on the lake, and he was going to pass them by.
When they saw him walking on the lake, they thought it was a ghost and cried out; for they all saw him and were terrified.
But, at once, he called to them, “Courage! It is I; don’t be afraid!” Then Jesus got into the boat with them, and the wind died down.
They were completely astonished, for they had not really grasped the fact of the loaves; their minds were dull.
REFLECTION:
I know how it is when one is in the middle of the sea when typhoon comes. It was indeed a horrifying experience.
It was at that moment that I prayed fervently for God’s help. Feeling of helplessness made me cling to the Lord in spirit.
It was at that moment that I comforted myself with the Lord’s words, “Courage, it is I, do not be afraid.”
That experience gave me the courage to face typhoons in my life. Instead of questioning the Lord why trials come to my life,
I have learned to thank him, for those trials pushed me to cling to the Lord. Typhoons, both literal and figurative,
become a springboard for me to reach out to the Lord.
