Then Jesus instructed him, “Tell this to no one. But go, and show yourself to the priest. Make an offering for your healing,
as Moses prescribed; that will serve as evidence for them.”
But the news about Jesus spread all the more; and large crowds came to him, to listen and to be healed of their sickness.
As for Jesus, he would often withdraw to solitary places and pray.
REFLECTION:
I often tell my friends that I may be alone in a solitary place but I am never lonely. Aloneness does not necessarily mean loneliness.
It is in solitude that I feel most the presence of God in my life. Amidst the noisy world,
aloneness with the Lord is all the more very helpful to experience serenity and maintain happiness in the Lord.
Solitude facilitates prayer. Prayer connects us to God, nature, and people. If we often connect to people through the phone,
texting, email, facebook, twitter, and instagram, why not to God through prayer? It is free of charge,
instead of us loading our phone so we could use email, etc., prayer loads us with God’s grace without cost, free of charge.
It needs, however, our free time and attention.
