The works I do in my Father’s name proclaim who I am, but you don’t believe because, as I said, you are not my sheep.
My sheep hear my voice and I know them; they follow me and I give them eternal life.
They shall never perish, and no one will ever steal them from me. What my Father has given me, is greater than all things else.
To snatch it out of the Father’s hand, no one is able! I and the Father are One.”
REFLECTION:
Those who put their trust in Jesus’ promise have never been disappointed. That, however, isn’t a statement of fact, but a statement of faith.
A believer’s life isn’t much different from someone who does not believe. They both have successes, failures, victories and defeats.
They both suffer illness and the occasional bout with problems and difficulties.
But there is something that defines the life of a true believer that isn’t too readily found in the life of one who does not believe,
and that is an anchoring onto a source of hope, of peace, and of calm and tranquility that can never be shaken.
As the prophet Isaiah declares: “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed.” (Is. 54:10)
