DG BookGospel: Jn 3:13-17
No one has ever gone up to heaven except the one who came from heaven, the
Son of Man. As Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted
up, so that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. Yes, God so loved the world that he gave

his only Son that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but may have eternal life.
God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world; instead, through him
the world is to be saved.

Reflection:

Jesus’ coming is not bad news for the earth. He
comes not to condemn but to save it. However,
for those who reject His message, He is not only
bad news, His coming is a nightmare. And it is the
person who decides which Jesus would be in his or
her life. It is our choice not God’s that we are either
condemned and lost, or have eternal life in the
world to come. For Jesus is the icon of God’s love. In
His humanity, we are able to see the breadth and the
width of God’s love for us. We cannot deny it anymore
afterwards. In Jesus, God’s love becomes visible for all
to see. And so, believing in Him is like a balm that
heals the sickness of our soul. His wounds relieve the
wounds of our sins. He is the best healer because He
underwent the wages of sin  and triumphs afterwards.
