world to condemn the world; instead, through him the world is to be saved. Whoever believes
in him will not be condemned. He who does not believe is already condemned, because he
has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

READ: In the first reading, Moses receives the Ten Commandments and God
comes to stand beside him, letting Moses experience God’s loving kindness close
at hand. Paul finishes his second letter to the Corinthians with a short course in
how to live as a person of faith. The Gospel sums up why God became human in
Jesus – to save us from sin and death and to bring us to eternal life.
REFLECT: In our own human limitations we can never fully understand the
mystery of the Trinity: three persons in one God, existing in an eternal communion
of love. While we cannot understand it fully, we are called by our Baptism to
participate in that divine communion of love. Though wounded by the effects of
sin, God’s grace helps us to purify our hearts and our motives to conform more
fully to this communion of love. In the love of God, we live and move and have
our being. We were created out of God’s love, live to share that love, and hope
to spend eternity with God in that divine love.
PRAY: May the peace of Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy
Spirit be with me.
ACT: Invite someone into your circle of loving concern.
