them to simple people. Yes, Father, this was your gracious will.

Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except he Father;
and no one knows the Father except the Son, and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal
him. Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke
upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart; and you will find rest. For
my yoke is easy; and my burden is light.“

READ: Zechariah prophesies of a time when a humble ruler will usher in
a reign of peace. Paul reminds the Romans that the Spirit of God dwells
in them and encourages them to abandon the ways of the world and
the flesh so as to live in that Spirit. Jesus reminds his followers that he
comes to bring rest and peace to all who seek him, helping them to bear
the burdens of life.

REFLECT: Sometimes I need to be reminded that I’m a human being, not
a human doing. My value depends not on what I achieve or accomplish,
but in the fact that I am a beloved child of God whose Spirit dwells within.
Unfortunately, the world judges differently, valuing those who are the
most productive, great achievers, or those who garner wealth. Time spent
enjoying life, praying, caring for family, or just relaxing is considered
wasted time. Those who do not produce – the elderly, the disabled, the
unborn – are treated as though they have no value. They can be discarded.
But followers of Jesus value these people all the more, for Jesus has chosen
them as his own.

PRAY: Lord, let my soul rest in you.

ACT: Take some time to relax, either alone or with family and friends.
