Gospel: Luke 13:18-21
And Jesus continued, “What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to? Imagine a person who has taken a mustard seed, and planted it in his garden. The seed has grown, and become like a small tree, so that the birds of the air shelter in its branches.”And Jesus said again, “What is the kingdom of God like? Imagine a woman who has taken yeast, and hidden it in three measures of flour, until it is all leavened.”

Reflection

God's grace is already at work.

The parables presented to us in the Gospel speak about the inevitable growth of the Kingdom of God, despite the opposition it faces. God’s reign will truly come. God will inevitably reign. Such truth hopefully evokes a deep sense of consolation in us, who may be facing various challenges and problems at this moment. Despite the odds we face, Jesus’ parables give us hope that, at the end of the day, it will always be God who reigns, and we have nothing to worry about. It is God who has the final say. Moreover, unknown or left unrecognized in us, God’s grace is already at work. It sustains us toward the fullness of time, which He promised. It is good to ask, in times of challenges and problems, where do I anchor my hope? Do I seek Jesus and entrust it to Him, or do I stray away from Him? Christ’s loving presence is always with us, accompanying us every step of the way.
