This booklet’s cover is an adaptation of the Diocese of Butuan’s coat of arms, particularly its elements of the blue wave and the fields of green. While originally pertaining to the Agusan River, the cover accentuates this aquatic symbol to recall the Jordan River where Christ was baptized. Moreover, this evokes the Easter and baptismal antiphon Vidi Aquam, alluding Ezekiel 47, which says: “I saw water flowing out of the Temple, from its right side, alleluia: And all to whom this water came were saved, and they shall say: alleluia, alleluia.” The field of green evokes its liturgical meaning of hope and life which is given by Christ to all the baptized. The word Bunyag is encased in crosses as a reminder of the salvific gift rendered to all through the ultimate Sacrifice at Calvary.
